Dear Library Professionals , It gives me immense pleasure to share with you our B-School Group's decade old library building efforts which have culminated in it being re-christened as "EMPI Knowledge & Learning Resource Centre" and identified as on of the best Management Libraries in Delhi and NCR. What started as a common library in 1995 has, as on date, built up a vast collection of information dockets comprising of 23,500 reference books, 150 Journals/ Magazines, 35 National Newspapers, and various CD-ROMs. Added to this are the networked resources of DELNET, thus enabling students and users to access to the networked resources of the DELNET as well as to the internationally acclaimed online database services. Connecting to this vast reservoir of Data and information resources flowing through our Fiber and Wi-Fi 24x7 DEMPI Data Network, every student laptop and the academia, make our campus one of the highest organized modern learning system in Delhi . Currently in order to shear our experience and further buildup on our effort, our knowledge and Learning Resource Centre (Central Library) has taken the initiative to organize and national convention on developing a " Roadmap for Modernization of Library and information Centers in the Emerging Knowledge Era " on 19th 20th March, 2007 at New Delhi under the guidance of the Indian Library Association of India President Dr. Muttayya Koganuramath , who is also the University Librarian, Central Library , Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. He has agreed to be the Patron of the EMPI Digital Library National Convention -2007. A Comprehensive brochure with the objection, theme, sub -themes and other details is enclosed for ready reference along with the registration form. Further to reach globally we have hosted a domain http://www.empidlnc.org with 2GB reserve space. This website will delicately disseminate all the conventional information to scholars and others. Dear Professional OpenDOAR (http://www.opendoar.org/search.php) is pleased to present a trial search service for the full-text of material held in open access repositories listed in the Directory. This has been made possible through the recent launch by Google of its Custom Search Engine, which allows OpenDOAR to define a search service based on the Directory holdings. Dear Moderator, Please publish this message Sorry for Cross posting Deadline for Registration : November 15, 2006 (Extended upto November 20, 2006) Indian Association of Special Libraries & Information Centres(IASLIC) Workshop on Open Source Movement and the Use of DSpace Software during November 28 - December 01, 2006 Objectives of the Workshop : 1. To provide background knowledge of the digital library and its related concepts. 2. To offer hands on experience on Linux . 3. To offer hands on experience in using Dspace Software. Areas to be covered in the Workshop: Open Source Movement, Digital Libraries: Current Scenario, Different Digital Library software and comparative study, Overview of Linux, Overview and Installation of DSpace, DSpace Users: Anonymous, Members & Authors, Lucene Search Engine, DSpace Administration, Dublin Core and OAI-PMH, Persistent Handles, DSpace Customization, Unicode and Indian Languages Laboratory Facilities The workshop lectures will be followed by demonstration and hands-on practices as far as practicable. An attractive Lab facilities (with one computer for two participants) will be made available for practice to the participants. Resource persons Prof A R D Prasad and Dr Devika P Madalli, Documentation Research and Training Centre (ISI), and also from other Institutions. Target Participants: Library and Information Science professionals with working knowledge of Information Technology. The Workshop is confined to a limited number of participants and will be filled strictly on first come first served basis. Only a few seats are available now. Venue at Kolkata National Institute for the Orthopaedically Handicapped (NIOH), (Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt of India), B T Road, Bonhooghly, Kolkata- 700 090.
