Dear Friends, Indian Journal of Medical Informatics (IJMI) - http://ijmi.org has adopted OJS (Open Journal System from PKP) for its online version. IJMI is an Official Organ of the Indian Association for Medical Informatics (IAMI) - http://www.iami.org.in. IAMI, dominated by professional doctors in regard to its membership, aims to promote use of Computers and IT for better health care. I am its life member and on its executive committee. IAMI had offered me to be acting Editor-in-Chief up to this November and Executive Editor for next four year. I had proposed IJMI Editorial Board to make IJMI an Open Access journal using OJS. Board readily accepted my proposal. They immediately purchased 80 MB web space and a Domain name for the Journal. OJS was installed and everything went well. In a tense meeting at Delhi?s Manak Bhawan, the 21-member technical committee decided that India would vote a ?no? against Microsoft?s Open Office Extensible Mark Up Language (OOXML) standard at the International Standards Organisation (ISO) in Geneva on September 2. Microsoft just launched a new search engine tool called Tafiti built on their Flash competitor, Silverlight. Tafiti provides a dynamic and attractive interface for searching the web, photos, news, RSS feeds and books. The search tool is big on style, but doesn't provide much new in substance. However, some featureslike the tray for saving and grouping results of any kind to the left of resultsare potentially really useful.
