National Conference on Library 2.0 at MyDLIS - Call for participation

We are happy to invite you to participate in an interesting conference on a very exciting theme – Library 2.0 This conference is organized by the Department of Library and Information Science (MyDLIS), University of Mysore, Mysore from August 21-22, 2008. The two-day national conference would have eight sessions in all. It includes one tutorial session on Web 2.0. Each session will have a key paper to be presented by experts in the concerned field followed by the research papers submitted to the conference. The following are some of the experts likely to address the conference. Prof. N. Balakrishnan, Professor, Multimedia, Computational lectromagnetics, Computer and Network Security, Natural Language Processing., IISc, Bangalore; Prof. A. Neelameghan, Retd. LEAD Programme: international career opportunity in UNDP

Dear Young Professionals, UNDP is looking for motivated and talented young professionals who are interested in an international career in development, have a passion to make a difference to the worlds poor and are willing to serve in hardship duty stations. Who can apply for the LEAD programme? Anyone of any nationality can apply, however since the programme is geared towards recruiting young professionals, preference will be given to candidates who are under 35 years of age. Candidates should also possess a masters degree in development related studies and be proficient in English and at least one other UN language. Delhi Library Association organised 6th Dr S.R. Ranganathan Memorial Lecture on 12th August in Ranganathan Bhawan Naraina vihar New Delhi 28. the lecture was delivered by Padamshri Prof. P.N. Kaula and Dr P.R Goswami Director NASSDOC presided over, in the lecture Prof Kaula indicated his experiences with the SRR. Open Source library Systems - Podcast

I was invited to the August 2008 meeting of a group called Library 2.0 Gang to participate in a discussion on Open Source Library Systems and to represent NewGenLib. This is a monthly meeting of Gang members like Marshal Breeding, Carl Grant, and others both from the Library Manageemnt Systems (LMS) industry as well as librarians who are interested in open source systems (OSS). The Chairperson of the group is Richard Tallis, Technology Evangelist from the Talis software, a major player in the UK LMS market.
