This new collection captures the life and work of MS Swaminathan, the plant geneticist, agricultural scientist, humanitarian, and institution builder. It contains over 48,000 archival objects spanning 80 years, in the form of research notes, correspondence, unpublished writings, media clippings, photographs, published works, and administrative notes from dozens of institutions and committees. *Programme:* 4:00 PM: Introductions 4:15 PM: Collection overview 4:45 PM: Reflective talk on the Swaminathan Papers and their relevance to agricultural histories. 5:15 PM: Q&A 5:45 PM: Tours of the Archives at NCBS + Refreshments *About the Archives at NCBS and the new collection:* The Archives at NCBS is a public collecting centre for the history of science in contemporary India. It operates on four broad verticals. One is to strengthen research collections and access in its domain. The second is to push the frontiers of research in archival sciences in India, forging intersections with scholarship in law, ethics, information theory and the semantic web. The third is to build capacity and public awareness through education, training and programming, from school to professional practice. And the fourth is to reimagine the archives as a way to strengthen public spaces and be part of the commons through vibrant public engagement and helping with the development of a broader collective of archives across the country (https://milli.link/) In 2020, NCBS formalized the creation of a Chair in the History and Culture of Science which also supports the activities of the Archives via a generous grant from TNQ Technologies. The 2000-square-feet physical centre includes space for research, processing, exhibitions, recording, and a leading-edge storage facility with monitors for temperature, light, humidity, air quality, water, fire, pests, and noise. Over 50,000 processed objects across 18 collections are in various forms, ranging from paper-based manuscripts to negatives to photographs, books, fine art, audio recordings, scientific equipment, letters, and field and lab notes. By the end of this year, this will increase three-fold to a publicly accessible catalogue for 150,000 objects. This is significantly due to this generous donation from the Trustees of the MS Swaminathan Research Foundation of the archival papers of Professor MS Swaminathan. Fourth International Conference on Science & Technology Metrics (STMet 2022) December 14-16, 2022 Organized by Jain University, Bangalore Abu Dhabi School of Management, UAE (December 19, 2022) www.socio.org.uk/stm CALL FOR PAPERS Building metrics is the key to science and technology measurement and translating the measures to work better. Metric is not confined to drawing numbers and analyze. Selecting a metric depends on synthesizing multiple directions and evidence-based data. Producing benchmarks and standards in science and technology evaluation and implementing them with real data mark the full-fledged system. We are witnessing new metrics-based models emerging to reflect science and technology growth. The proposed Science and Technology Metrics (STMet 2022) conference concerns how many metrics may involve the assessment of different aspects of science and technology, which are best expressed using different approaches. Besides the standard conference track and the Doctoral Symposium, STMetrics will host several workshops and tutorials related to the theme of the conference. The purpose of the workshops is to provide participants with a friendly, interactive atmosphere for presenting novel ideas and discussing their application of metrics in Science and Technology systems. The goal of the tutorials is to enable the participants to familiarize themselves with theoretical and practical aspects and the application of metrics. The proposed conference consists of invited talks, presentations, tutorials, workshops and discussions. The STMet has tracks on specialized topics. The STMet address the below themes not limited. Citation-based metrics Open data Open access and open science Ranking of Journals, Institutions, and Countries Scientific Collaboration and cooperation analysis Discipline and Domain Analysis National Evaluation Systems Economic factors New indices for evaluation Databases and datasets for evaluation Altmetrics Evaluation Tools and Indicators Web-based metrics Data Science and Digital Repositories Visibility and impact Scientific Visualization Internationalization e-Science in the Cloud Text-based Metrics Scientific Journalism Innovation indicators Wearable Devices All submitted papers will be reviewed by a double-blind (at least three reviewers), and participative peer review. The review process will enable the selection process of those accepted for their presentation at the international conference. Authors of accepted papers who registered in the conference can access the evaluations and feedback provided by the reviewers who recommended the acceptance of their papers, so they can accordingly improve the final version of their papers. Mentoring support is available to young researchers and authors of developing countries. Selected post-conference modified versions of the papers will be published in a few journals.
