URGENT NOTICE

NOTICE The esteemed members of the Association are hereby informed that we have been publishing IASLIC Newsletters in electronic format (since 2011) in addition to its monthly hardcopy editions. Many of you have welcomed the effort. Due to rising printing and postage costs, the association is facing financial constraints in publishing hardcopy editions of the newsletter. To overcome the situation we had appealed to our members for generous donations (Rs 1000/- or more). But the responses are not satisfactory. In this situation, some members present at the Annual General Meeting held on 27.12.2013 at Pune suggested publication of newsletter in electronic format only from July, 2014 issue, while some members opposed this view. In the circumstances it was resolved to send electronic version of the newsletter to those who have necessary access facilities.Hence our humble request to our fellow members is to let us know their present e-mail addresses to the office of the IASLIC through e-mail (iaslic.news(a)gmail.com) immediately for our record. Feedback/comments of the esteemed members are earnestly solicited on this issue. Dear Members, CSIR - NISCAIR, New Delhi is organizing a short-term training programme on "Library Automation using KOHA - Basic". Dates: June 30 - July 04 2014. Course fee: Rs. 4000/- (without accommodation) and Rs. 5200/- (with accommodation). KOHA is an Open Source Integrated Library Management System (ILMS). It has all the features/ facilities required for Automation of a Library. The training programme is a practical oriented programme. It covers installation of KOHA on Linux platform followed by Hands-on on different modules and features of KOHA. Dear All, During my service to the LIS community i observed some people do not wish to acknowledge your help and observed the following reasons: 1. They wanted to get help but prove themselves in their parent organizations and community. 2. They are actually not devoted for the work for which they want help. 3. They are not authorized to acknowledge in written or not interested to approach the authority because of fear that they will be underestimated, their may be some other reasons also. Please note our country need help to become developed so your reference may direct the persons at right source of help and it will save lot of time including yours, strong technical/professional capability will developed among the peoples as well as your strong image will be also build among all.
