Dear All, A half-day free workshop on 'Six Sigma for LIS Professionals' is being organized by NCSI-Net Foundation in collaboration with Karnataka State Library Association (KALA) and Raman Research Institute (RRI). Six Sigma Black Belt experts from the industry will be sharing their expertise knowledge during the workshop. Fellow professionals are encouraged to attend the seminar and get to understand the set of techniques and tools for process improvement. The detail of the event follows: Title: Six Sigma for LIS Professionals Venue: Raman Research Institute (RRI), CV Raman Avenue, Sadashivnagar (Near Mekhri Circle), Bangalore - 560080 Date and Time: 28 June 2014; 2.00 to 5.00 PM Registration: Free Workshop Objective/Coverage: This workshop will introduce the concept of Six-Sigma, its application in Library Science with specific examples and focus on designing Digital Library by using Six-Sigma approach. At the end, a case study on Six-Sigma will also be presented. The workshop will be participant driven where based on audience response/questions, speakers will try to give a six-sigma way of solving problems. Speakers: 1. Lakshmeesha S Lakshmeesha is leading a team of professionals focusing on Intellectual Property, Technology and Market analysis, at GE Global Research, JFWTC, Bangalore. He has over 20 years of professional experience spanning Research, People Management, Software Program execution and Technology strategy. He has been associated with the Six Sigma activities for the last 14 years and is a Certified DFSS Master Black Belt. He has mentored many Black Belts and Green Belts both in technology as well as functions. He is also an active coach in many of the six sigma training sessions. He has led many Lean work outs, which aim at simplifying the existing process. He has a master's degree in Bio Medical Engineering and Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation technology. He has deep interest in Healthcare technologies, TRIZ for problem solving, Lean Six sigma, apart from Intellectual Property Strategy. He has been an invited speaker in various forums focusing on Quality and Intellectual Property. 2. An article on an OA repository in a toll-access journal

Friends: I saw a reference to this paper on an Indian open access repository in agriculture: K. Veeranjaneyulu, (2014) "KrishiKosh: an institutional repository of National Agricultural Research System in India", Library Management, Vol. 35 Iss: 4/5, pp.345 - 354. But this article itself is published in a toll access journal. One has to pay $32 + VAT to obtain a copy from Emerald. Hope authors from ICAR will publish their papers - at least the ones dealing with open access - in OA journals. The author could have considered publishing this paper in *Ariadne* or *First Monday*.
