Dear Professionals, The ILA Election - 2019 has arrived. The ballot papers are being dispatched to the valid and eligible members by officials of the ILA. Now, its time to make a choice. The librarians are known as change agents in their organisations and society. They are actively involved in creating awareness about all those things that have potential to inspire the people leading to some positive change in the society. The 'Election' is one such event that provides an opportunity for every individual voter to have his voice heard and bring change in the society. Every ballot matters since it has the potential to chose the 'right' candidates and reject the 'unsuitable' ones. *Dear All,* Elsevier introduces a new metric called "h5 Index". Almost every year the publishing industry introduces new metrics. Maybe for business profit or really they worry about research output. Applications open for Oakley Memorial Copyright Scholarship

The American Library Association is now accepting applications for the Robert L. Oakley Memorial Copyright Scholarship. The $1,000 scholarship is awarded annually to an individual or a team of individuals who meet eligibility criteria. ALA and the Library Copyright Alliance established the Robert L. Oakley Memorial Scholarship to support research and advanced study for librarians in their early-to-mid-careers who are interested and/or active in the fields that Robert Oakley was expert in: intellectual property, public policy, copyright and their impacts on libraries and the ways libraries serve their communities. The scholarship aims to encourage and expand interest in and knowledge of these aspects of librarianship. The scholarship may be used for equipment, expendable supplies, travel necessary to conduct, attend conferences, release from library duties or other reasonable and appropriate research expenses. Applicants must demonstrate interest in or be professional actively in copyright and public policy and their impacts on libraries and the ways libraries serve their communities. Highest consideration will be given to applicants who are librarian(s) in their early-to-mid-careers. A Review Committee will be made up of the members of the ALA Copyright, Legislation, Advocacy, and Education Network (CLEAN) in discussion with the Library Copyright Alliance. To apply, applicants should submit a resume or curriculum vitae along with a statement of intent for use of the scholarship funds, including the applicant’s interest and background in intellectual property, public policy, and/or copyright and their impacts on libraries and the ways libraries serve their communities. The statement should include information about how the applicant and the library community will benefit from the applicant’s receipt of scholarship. Statements should be no longer than 2,000 words. INFLIBNET Centre, Gandhinagar has announced the *One Week National Workshop on "Libraries on Cloud" on 11th - 16th March 2019.* Cloud computing is a general term for the delivery of hosted services over the internet. Today number of institutes and their day-to-day activities are solely depended on IT. IT made the things faster, easier. It has a worldwide user base that includes cultural heritage organizations, universities, business schools, research institutions, national libraries, and government agencies. In this unique workshop, experts of Cloud will cover the fundamentals, installation of CMS and repository on Cloud for those who want to use the platform, and address the issues faced by those who are already running Cloud. At the end of the workshop participants will definitely gain more insights and in-depth knowledge on the fundamentals of Cloud, installation and customization.
