No doubt such new technologies are useful for LIS professionals to understand and use them, but holding too many of them without a clear focus and scope loose their importance and value. Certified Virtual Classroom Teacher program -- 3rd & final batch

Dear all, We are happy to inform that two batches of this pgm were run successfully on 21&23 May 2020 and 28&30 May 2020 However, as we continue to get requests to participate in this training pgm, we are pleased and decided to run the 3rd & final batch with the support of Classle SKILLNET. Announcement ============ Three leading Computer Societies -- CSI, ACM & IEEE CS in collaboration with Classle SKILLNET announces ‘Certified Virtual Classroom Teacher’ certification program the Teachers with an objective of enabling them to deliver their best through Virtual Classrooms. The program comprises of two mandatory phases of 1.5 hours each and a third optional phase as mentioned here: Phase 1: Introduction and Overview on Teaching a Virtual Classroom (Mandatory Online Session) Phase 2: Mastering Virtual Classroom Delivery (Mandatory Online Session) Phase 3: Hands-on Delivery Session (Optional & Offline) Interested faculty members may please enroll at https://forms.gle/71YE8C8BkUqKtWME6 After a review of the enrollments, participants will be confirmed of their registration. Only confirmed participants will be informed about the meeting credentials to attend the online sessions of 1.5 hours each to be held on two days. Based on the performance in the quizzes during the sessions and the online test at the end of the 2nd phase, a joint course completion certificate will be provided. Google CASA - enable library's remote access facility

Dear Colleagues, The remote access facility is one of THE services of any library in this COVID19 pandemic. However, all the libraries are not equipped with the online application tool to give seamless access to subscribed contents to their users at their remote locations. Google CASA - Campus Activated Subscriber Access (CASA) is a Google Scholar initiative to improve access to research off-campus. If you are connected to your campus network (directly or by VPN) and use Google Scholar, Google will remember your institutional affiliation on your device for a period of 30 days (this period varies) so you can continue to access your institution?s licensed content outside the network. While searching any literature on Google Scholar at this time, it automatically creates an affiliation (or a ?token?) between the end-user and the affiliated institution. From that point on, if the user visits Google Scholar from off-campus or outside of the library, their token is recognized as an affiliate user and the user will see links to subscribed journals and articles that the library subscribes to. In simple terms CASA is a solution that notes a user?s access on campus and handshakes to make that same access work off campus. The new service requires no configuration from users. Most of the leading publishers and aggregators (Springer Nature, Elsevier, Gale, EBSCO) have participated in this Google Scholar's Link Program.
