Dear Professionals, Thats really a very good suggestion, I think the reports and proceedings can be archived on a common open platform, LDL (Librarians' Digital Library) hosted at https://drtc.isibang.ac.in/ can be useful in this regard. And my personal view is that the contributor should get a complementary copy of the Seminar Proceedings or atleast reprint of the paper, in case he/she is not able to attend the seminar for some reason. CENTRAL STATE LIBRARY S SECTOR-17, CHANDIGARH Celebrating Success Over 50 Years ________________________________________________________________________________________ The Librarian and the staff of T.S Central State Library are pleased to announce through this communication that our Library is completing fifty years of dedicated service to the public of Chandigarh and surrounding areas. This Library was established in 1955 and today it is one of the richest libraries in Chandigarh with a collection of about two lakh books and a membership of over 40,000. Awarded with Best State Central Library by RRLF, Kolkotta for the year 2002 we have a separate Children Library and a Branch Library at Manimajra along with a Integrated Library Center in Govt. Sr. Sec. School Sec 27. Our Mobile Van servers all the villages of Chandigarh. The Library also hosts an American Corner on its second floor which is a partnership between American Information and Resource Center, U S Embassy, New Delhi and T.S Central State Library Chandigarh. Besides the regular services of a public library we provide Free Internet Access to our members. Dear Friends, A public library in Alemelo,Holland , is lending out people in a new initiativeaimed at challenging stereotypes.Apart from books ,the users can borrow gay people ,gypsies and Muslims for an hour and talk to them about their lives.For instance teh public library visitors can borrow a muslim woman in ahead scarf and ask her questions they would not aother wise dare to find out if,they met her on the street.This is according to the public library director-Jan Krol. Th elibrary has contacted 10 people from differnet backgrounds who are willing to have a chat with its visitors in a nearby pub. How do u alll like this !!!!!!!!! Winning support for OA at WSIS

Dear Professor Samassekou: We must get a strong recommendation and a stronger action plan to implement open access (self archiving of all research papers in science, technology, medicine, arts, humanities and literature) at the Tunis meeting of WSIS. We must mobilise as many country delegations as possible to support resolutions favouring open access. The African Academy of Sciences, TWAS, InterAcademy Panel, InterAcademy Council, etc. should be persuaded to lend support to such a move. I am cc-ing this mail to others who are championing the cause of open access. All of us would be grateful for your support and proactive advocacy. Regards.
