Dear Colleagues, Shri Jamil Ahmad has raised a very pertinent point with regard to the equivalence of ADIS with the MLIS degree. As per the decion taken by the GOI almost three decaedse ago the ADIS qualification is at par with the MLIS degree only for the purpose of jobs in documentation.The DRTC has now rightly taken a decision to designate its course as Master's degree and therefore in future the DRTC students should not have any such technical disability. [and its Ajay's birthday too] In one year, we had 970+ member all over India and abroad too... and 2150+ different topics have been discussed on MLOSC in one year... We have tried to provide all the latest GRs, Circulars regarding librarians to all our Library professional colleagues... so that they can be benefited by it... We have arranged a workshop for the LIS professionals preparing for the NET/SET exams... Respected Professionals, This is Jamil Ahmed, final year student of ADIS (Associateship in Documentation and Information Science from Documentation Research and Training Centre (DRTC) ISI Bangalore. I took admission here after completed B.L.I.Sc. As we all know Documentation Research and Training Centre, ISI Bangalore is the renowned Institute in India in the field of Library and Information Science and the course ADIS is equivalent to Master degree. On 23rd September 1980 Ministry of Education and Culture recognized the ADIS is equivalent to master degree. But, one of my senior who has qualified UGC NET last year and he did not get certificate of UGC NET till now, why because UGC said that ADIS is not equivalent to master degree and refused to give certificate. He is facing a lot of problem for getting job where NET is required. Please advise whether it is ok or not, if he is fighting for his right. Please forward for your advice and suggestions. This doctoral work was jointly supervised Dr. Chaitali Dutta of Jadavpur University and Prof. B.K. Sen of INSDOC. *Abstract* Digitization of library materials provides an excellent opportunity to widely disseminate our documentary heritages and greatly increases access to library collections of rare documents as well as current research literature. Indian digitization initiatives aim at producing a vast amount of digitized documents pertaining to different forms of recorded human knowledge, ranging from the rare manuscripts to current research literature.
