Centre for Library and Information Management Studies, Sir Dorabji Tata Memorial Library, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai is a major Centre involved in capacity building of LIS professionals. It offers PG Diploma, Masters and PhD Programmes in Library and Information Science discipline with a focus on digital libraries, knowledge organization, e-Resources Management and web based information services. TISS is happy to announce admissions to the 14th Batch of "Post Graduate Diploma in Digital Library and Information Management" for the year 2023-24. This cutting edge, one year dual-mode programme uses contact classes for on-campus(Physical) and Moodle e-learning platform for its off-campus sessions. It is aimed at creating trained human resource to handle digital libraries and electronic resources. There is a burgeoning need for trained librarians in the light of national priorities like Digital India, National Mission on Education through Information and Communication technology (NME-ICT) and National Knowledge Commission (NKC). Librarian Guide Travel Grant (LGTG) 2023 is financial assistance for the students pursuing Master of Library & Information Science (MLISc) from any College / University / Institute in India. The main purpose of the LGTG is to provide an opportunity to the MLIB student to attend the conference being organized anywhere in India. The student must be currently enrolled in the Master of Library and Information Science course in any college / university / institute in India only. The selection will be done based on the marks secured in Bachelor of Library and Information Science (BLISc). In case of equal percentage for two or more than two students, the selection will be done based on date of birth (DOB). Students willing to apply for this grant need to attach the following: a. Paper acceptance proof from the conference organizer, b. Student’s current identity card of MLISc c. Bachelor of Library & Information Science (BLISc) certificate. d. Passbook Xerox Copy with Address The amount of Rs. 2500/- (Two Thousand Five Hundred only) will be given to the selected student. Using persistent identifiers (PIDs) for research outputs can maximize the discoverability and support in making research data FAIR. PIDs are unique and permanent identifiers that can be used to identify and cite research outputs over time. This is important for open research because it allows researchers to share their work with others and track its impact. A Digital Object Identifier (DOI), a type of PID, can be assigned and used for various research outputs (beyond the journal article) such as datasets, research software, dissertations, grants, peer review reports, etc. DOIs are persistent, unique, and machine-readable. Once DOIs are registered, it's easy to find and cite them. In this workshop, we are going to cover the following elements that could be useful for repository managers, researchers, librarians, and policymakers: · Introduction to persistent identifiers (PIDs) and their importance · Making your institution's research data FAIR · The value of integrating repositories with DOIs · DataCite's Global Access Program role in fostering PID adoption worldwide Overall, institutional repositories are a vital tool for supporting open research practices. By providing PIDs, repositories can support making research data FAIR and enhance the visibility of various research outputs. This can help make research more widely available to the public and foster the transition towards a more Open Research landscape!
