Invitation to participate in the 2021 Library Automation Perceptions survey

The 2021 International Library Automation Perceptions survey conducted through Library Technology Guides is now underway. This survey, conducted annually since 2007, provides an important opportunity for libraries to register their perceptions of the strategic automation products they use, organizations that provide these products, and the quality of support delivered. The survey also probes at considerations for migrating to new systems and the level of interest in open source products. While the numeric rating scales support the statistical results of the study, the narrative comments provide even more interesting insight into the current state of library automation satisfaction. Comments will be published in the survey results, though redacted to conceal any text that might identify the individual or organization responding. Please help your fellow libraries who might be in the process of evaluating library automation options by responding to the survey. Any information regarding vendor performance and product quality can be helpful when making strategic decisions regarding automation alternatives. A large number of responses strengthen the impact of the survey and the subsequent report. This survey also provides constructive criticism to the vendors involved to help them address any prevailing issues or concerns. If you have responded in previous years, please respond again this year to help identify any trends regarding improvement or worsening of the products or support services. All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) sponsored Five Day’s Short Term Training Program (STTP) on “Proficiency Skills for Library Professionals under the New Education Policy (NEP)” is being organized by Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) Belagavi from 9th to 13th May 2022 for Library professionals of AICTE approved institutions in India. The librarians under NEP are expected to have a skilled service attitude. The Libraries need to act as education service centers for print, digital, and personnel resources. India has witnessed a gradual spike in qualified IT personnel and library professionals, embracing remote work and cloud infrastructure as the mantle to their industry sustenance. Industries like the automotive industry, construction, finance, logistics, and leisure took a massive hit during steps taken to control the pandemic. Healthcare found it challenging to meet the demands of a vast Indian population. DRTC was established in 1962 as a constituent unit of the Indian Statistical Institute. On the invitation of Prof. P. C. Mahalanobis, Dr. S.R. Ranganathan (1892-1972) (then National Research Professor in Library Science) started DRTC in Bangalore. Since its inception, DRTC has been considered a pioneer in Library and Information Science. To make the mark on the Occasion of the 75th anniversary of Independence of India and 60th Anniversary Celebrations of the Documentation Research and Training Center, (1962-2022), Indian Statistical Institute, and the 130thAnniversary of Dr. S.R.
