We are librarians from colleges of engineering, dental sciences and school of architecture managed by a common management authority. At present the libraries of these colleges are housed in respective colleges. Now, our management is planning to provide a centralised library building. We want to know if AICTE or DCI or COA rules allow us to have a centralised library or the rules specify if the individual libraries have to be housed in respective colleges. National Seminar on RESEARCH ETHICS ON PUBLISHING QUALITY ARTICLES Organised by POPE’S COLLEGE (Autonomous) Accredited by NAAC 2nd cycle with ‘A’ Grade (CGPA:3.28) Sawyerpuram-628251 Thoothukudi District and Society for the Advancement of Library and Information Science (SALIS), Tirunelveli Chapter Funded by UGC Autonomous Grant Date: 7th March 2020 (Saturday) About the College Pope’s college, located at Sawyerpuram, is one of the rural colleges in Thoothukudi District of Tamilnadu state. It is a resurgence of an institution that was founded in the past in 1880 as a seminary, by Dr. G .U. Pope, the revered missionary from England and run for only three years in Sawyerpuram. The college was later incorporated with Madras Christian College, Chennai for certain reasons. The college was rejuvenated as a regular institution in 1962 with pragmatic memories of Pope in the red soil of Sawyerpuram, with the help of alumni association (POBA) of Pope Memorial High School and a team of dedicated pioneer staff members, under the skilled guidance of Prof. D.S. George Muller, the founder principal.It is an autonomous and co-educational institution. It is a rural college accredited with ‘A’ Grade (CGPA-3.28) by NAAC in cycle-II. It is managed by CSI-Thoothukudi-Nazareth Diocese and affiliated to Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli. The college has about 40 acres of functional area with multi-storeyed buildings. The college offers 10 UG, 6 PG, 4 M.Phil. and 13 Career Oriented programmes. Three of the departments are elevated as research centres. About the Library The General Library of Pope’s College was established on 31st March 1963 with 1000 text books and five periodicals largely donated by Prof. D.S. George Muller, the founder principal of the College. The General Library of Pope’s college has the vision to create knowledge among the students to enhance their power to light India. The Library was earlier housed in the Main block from 1962 to 2011. The new library building with a carpet area of 3000 sq.ft. was opened on 10th May 2011 . The New Library building has been aptly named as Prof. D.S. George Muller library in remembrance of his dedicated service to the student community of Pope’s College, Sawyerpuram. The Library is housed with 37523 volumes of books with 15476 titles, 30 journals 10 magazines and NLIST e-resources. More than 150 students are daily using the Library. About the Workshop Library is an information center and caters the needs of the staff, students and scholar community. it is the right place to acquire knowledge. Library also provides the resources like curriculum based materials, academic work, self assessment and research work to the academic community. This programme also encourages the academic community to improve the reading, writing, research skills and ability to use the e- resources. Objectives of the Workshop To know the depth knowledge on research ethics. To acquire the knowledge in reference management, citation analysis and plagiarism. To identify the role of library to promote research integrity. Dear LIS-Forum Members, It is with great pleasure we invite interested LIS-Forum members to the 2-day Conference on “Information Transformation and Informatics in the Digital Era: Opportunities and Challenges” during 12-13 March 2020 at NAAS, NASC Complex, New Delhi. The Conference, jointly organized by CSIR-National Institute of Science Communication and Information Resources (CSIR-NISCAIR) and CSIR-Traditional Knowledge Digital Library (CSIR-TKDL) Unit and will focus on technologies and tools for S&T Information Transformation, and the effective approaches for targeted consumption of such information. The sessions planned for the 2 days include (i) Information: Organization, Systems and Retrieval; (ii) Specialized Online Databases; (iii) Data Visualization & Infographics and (iv) Artificial Intelligence. We have invited speakers, from across the country, from both public and private sector, for these four sessions. In addition, Panel Discussions are proposed for both days. The topic for the first day is "Digital Information Landscape: Opportunities and Challenges"; and for the second day it is "Information Transformation: The Path Ahead".
