Dear Professionals, The All India Institute of Speech and Hearing, Mysore (An autonomous organization under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India, accredited by NAAC with ’A’grade and ISO 9001-2008 certified) is organizing a 4-day National Workshop on Information Management using Koha and WordPress on 28-31 January, 2016. The workshop comprises of demonstration and hands-on training on both the applications. The number of participants is limited to facilitate an intensive learning experience. Registration fee for the workshop is Rs.1500/- which includes expenses on morning/evening tea and lunch for four days and workshop kit. The fee has to be paid in Demand Draft drawn in favour of the Director, All India Institute of Speech and Hearing, Mysuru payable at Mysore. A limited number of rooms is available at the Institute guest house for outstation participants, which will be allotted first come first serve basis in twin sharing mode. (Per day tariff: VIP Suit - Rs. 300; A/C Room - Rs. 200 Non A/C Room- Rs. 100). No advance payment is required for accommodation in the guest house. Dear All: Do you know of scientists, scholars or writers who changed the way they spell their names midway in their career? It could be because of advice from an astrologer or numerologist. They may have papers under the two variants of their names and aggregation of such papers as belonging to the same person poses a problem. Also, do you know of people who changed their name, say because one is adopted by someone? Such people may also have papers under two different names. Berlin 12 Conference report

Report on Berlin 12 Open Access Conference On December 8 and 9, 2015, representatives from several regions (Asia, Europe, and North America) met in Berlin, Germany, to discuss a proposal to flip subscription-based journals to open access models. The initiative is being led by the Max Planck Society, the organizer and host of the invitation-only Berlin 12 Open Access Conference. The rationale for the initiative is based on an analysis undertaken by Max Planck Digital Library (MPDL) <https://www.mpg.de/9202262/area-wide-transition-open-access>, which found that a flip to open access would be possible at no financial risk, “maybe even at lower overall costs” to the system. The objective of the conference was to build a consensus for an internationally coordinated effort to shift libraries’ journal budgets away from subscriptions and towards article processing costs (APCs). In general, most conference participants were supportive “in principle” of a collaborative, international effort to accelerate the transition to open access, although a number of concerns were expressed about a model in which APCs would prevail.
