Details of the Talk: Topic: Innovations in Library Automation Process: The Trion Journey Speaker: Sven Carlson Date & Time: 10/12/2011 at 11.00 AM Venue: NCSI Seminar Hall, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore About Lecture: Library Automation and Technologies have been evolving to keep up with the ever changing times and needs of the users. We are now at a juncture where libraries need to be accessible to users 24 by 7. Huge libraries face daunting challenges in transporting the books to the right rack at the right time so as not letting users lose out on the much required resources. Keeping up with the changing trend, Trion Technologies has pioneered in return, transporting and sorting systems at the library. A one of its kind company, they have come up with total RFID solutions to libraries of every size. A Swiss based company which works both with international system integrators along with regional local partners. About Speaker: Sven Carlson, a Norwegian citizen, has a master degree in electronics from ETH Zurich, Switzerland. Respected library professionals, At present we have MBA course in our three institutions in the campus but now we are going to close down two of them and want to merge books of closed institutes in the running institute. Is it possible to enter books of closed institutes in the accession register of running institute to utilize these books and fullfill the books' purchasing requirements of AICTE without purchasing new books. Call for Papers IFLA Science and Technology Libraries Section Papers are invited to be presented at 78th IFLA General Conference and Assembly, Helsinki, Finland in August 2012 Theme: The Role of Libraries in Data Curation, Access, and Preservation: an International Perspective Data curation, access, and preservation are integral to the advancement of research in science and technology. For further definition and clarification of the role of data in research see the Digital Curation Centre (DCC) website: ( http://www.dcc.ac.uk/digital-curation/what-digital-curation) The session will focus on the role of libraries and librarians in data curation in various countries and the challenges associated with establishing and operating data curation repositories, on a local or national level. The role of libraries in establishing data curation repositories. 3. A financial model for sustaining data curation within the library and/or university. 4. Training and preparation of librarians to participate in data curation.
