Occupational hazards in Library Practice

Sir, This areas of library profession is no more discussed much in details in various platforms/forums of library practices. Most of the libraries in third world countries similarly in india are highly prone to dust exposure, the persons working in this area(Library stacks) are highly exposure to diferent hazardous diseases. There may be various reasons of lack of manpower, money, time, physical factor, that should addressed at great length and width. So that, a awarness would arise among the library community. Hope ILA at least take this cognizance of matter into disscussion. NATIONAL WORKSHOP ON QUALITY INDICATORS AND BEST PRACTICES FOR ACADEMIC LIBRARIES 04 – 06 MARCH 2008 DEPARTMENT OF LIBRARY AND INFORMATION SCIENCE PUNJABI UNIVERSITY, PATIALA *Context of the workshop* Quality in service and best practices are the watchwords for governments, for regulatory and policy-making bodies, for corporate sector, and for NGOs. Academic institutions and their libraries are not immune to this mandate. Users are now looking for quality in everywhere, whether it is a manufactured product or a customized service. Ideal way to look at quality is by providing hundred percent satisfaction to the information seeker. It is in this broad context that this workshop is being organized. *Objectives of the Workshop: *This workshop is organized keeping in view the following specific objectives: To sensitize the workshop participants about the need and role of quality indicators and best practices in promoting the use of academic libraries. To create awareness of quality assurance initiatives and mechanisms of the NAAC To identify the quality indicators and best practices to make academic library services and LIS education programmes equitable, efficient, effective, flexible, and qualitative. Oxford Journals announces further partnership with European Society of Cardiology

12 February 2008 Today Oxford Journals and the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) announced a new publishing partnership for the *European Journal of Echocardiography*, starting in 2008. This will be the fourth of the ESC's titles to join Oxford Journals, following *European Heart Journal *in 2005, *Europace* in 2006, and *Cardiovascular Research*, which is also being launched by Oxford Journals for 2008. The *European Journal of Echocardiography *is the official journal of the European Association of Echocardiography, a registered branch of the European Society of Cardiology.
