Different Study centres of alagappa university are charging different amount !!

dear all library and information science professionals and student !!! this is a very sad news that different study centres of alagappa university are charging different amount even this was not told at the time of taking addmission in MPhil in library and information science. study centre at delhi is taking Rs 1000/- and Lucknow Centre is asking for 5000/- Rs i request to all the library professionals across the India to come farward against the ill treatment of these types of activities in india with the young LIS professional and students. as they are already very late and viva voce examination of May 2007 BATCH has not taken yet !!!!!!! even i have called to the examination controller of the university but no body is able to justify with the matter !!! The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Open Archives Initiative Metadata Harvesting Project (Open Archives Initiative Information in Engineering, Computer Science, and Physics) The Library of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) has created and implemented a suite of Open Archives Initiative (OAI)-based metadata harvesting services, search services, and tools designed to facilitate discovery and retrieval of certain classes of scholarly works, thereby making visible portions of the currently "hidden" Web of scholarly information resources. This work is complementary with and carried on in concert with a related project conducted by the University of Michigan Digital Library Extension Service. The OAI Metadata Harvesting Project at Illinois focused on creating a deep, domain-specific portal designed to search metadata describing selected manuscript archives and digitized cultural heritage information resources. Software developed by this project has been made available under an Open Source Initiative license. British Library Closure Opposed

The issue of British Library in Thiruvananthapuram has reached the Kerala High Court,with a petitioner pleading against the loss of the cultural landmark. The Library in Thiruvananthapuram had around 6500 members & a collection of around 28000 books used by a lare number of students to prepare for competative examination. Archiving of Digiital Photos

Dear Mr Bharti Kalra, It is possible to store your photos in a folder as a digital archive and make them available to all intranet users with a web front-end for search and retrieve with any of the the given metadata with Winisis/ GenisisWeb software in Windows platform. The mechanism is to create a database of the photos with a link to its stored location with Wiisis software and the GenisisWeb will make it accessible over the intranet. On searching and clicking on the link the photo will be opened by using the photo viewer in the computer. this would be the most simple kind of archive. Both the software are free.
