*Sri Paturi Nagabhushanam - The Visionary of Library Services *
Sri Paturi Nagabhushanam born at Pedapalem in Guntur
District of AP is one whose name evokes a sense of reverence and gratitude
in the minds and hearts of the Librarian fraternity in India.
Mother Teresa once said "There are no great acts, only small
acts done with love". This adage suits Sri Nagabhushanam to the hilt as the
seeds of wisdom and knowledge he had sown in the villages of Rural AP truly
testify.
His pioneering efforts in spreading the cause of book
reading earned him the honorary title "The Doyen of the Andhra Library
Movement. He was a freedom fighter, a Gandhian in life style. He set up
Libraries in about 160 villages of Guntur district. He also organised Boat
Libraries between Pedavadlapudi and Kolluru & Pedavadlapudi and Pidaparru,
1935-42. This became a national sensation. He was the secretary of APLA for
more than four decades.
With the serenity of a seer, he led the Library Movement
forward for more than five decades. His sense of cpmprehensive vision,
sacrifice and compassion and commitment to the cause of Library Movement in
India is worth emulating.
*APLA Track Record*
The Andhra Pradesh Library Association played a meaningful
role with a long history of proactive and progressive involvement and
dedicated efforts in the cause of Library Movement in AP aswell in India.
The APLA enjoys an excellent track record strengthened by
the rich and fruitful association of the doyens of Library Movement in A.P.,
Sri Chilakamarthi, Sri Suravaram Pratap Reddy, Sri Iyyanki, Sri Gadicherla,
Sri Kodati, Sri Paturi, Prof NG Ranga, Dr M. Chenna Reddy among others.
with a contribution spanning nine decades, the APLA has an
influential and remarkable identity in the field of Library & information
science in the country.
*Vijayawada : The Destination City*
Vijayawada is the political educational and commercial
centre of the State of Andhra Pradesh. The burstling centre of commercial
activity, it is growing fast industrially. With one of the biggest railway
Junctions in the South Central Railway and the Second Largest Bus station in
Asia, Vijayawada attracts large crowds of pilgrims to the Kanaka Durga
Temple, Gunadala Church etc. The NTR Health University, a host of
professional colleges and nationally acclaimed Educational Institutions like
Sri Chaitanya,Narayana, Nalanda etc. Vijayawada has acquired a pride of place
the academic circles.
Prakasam Barrage, Victoria Jubilee Museum, Gandhi
Hill,Bhavani Islands, Rajiv Park, Kondapalli, Undavalli Caves, Amaravat etc
are places of importance for tourists.

*Presentation of Papers at the Seminar *
Participants are invited to contribute papers for
presentation at the National Conference on the above mentioned themes and
sub themes.
papers should reach the *secretary, PNCCC & APLA, Sri
Sarvottama Bhavanam, Vijayawada - 520 010, A.P.* on or before *July 15th
2007.*
Papers should be submitted on A4 size paper along with an
electronic copy or sent through email at *apla1914(a)gmail.com.* Papers must
contain the name of the author, designation, title of the article, abstract,
Mailing Address, Telephone Number & email address.
*How to Register*
Registration can be done in advance by drawing a DD Rs 500/-
in favour of the Secretary, PNCCC, Vijayawada and send the same with the
filled in Registration form. They can also register on the spot registration
counter available at the venue on all the days of the conference from 9 a.mto 5
p.m.
Accompanying persons will be charged a fee of Rs. 400/-.
Retired Librarians and Students of Library Science get a 25% discount in the
registration fee. The Registration fee covers Breakfast, Lunch, Tea and
Dinner. Cancellation of the Registration is not entertained. **
*Accomodation***
* *The organizing Committee will arrange hostel accommodation
to the participants who opt for it. *An Accommodation Fee of* Rs. 200/- is
charged for this purpose.
The participants seeking accommodation need to mention, that
in the Registration form and send the application latest by July 30th along
with the fee. Accomodation is limited & will be alloted on first come first
serve basis.
If a participant wishes to stay in the Hotels, details of
the hotels and their tariffs are given in page 6.
*Food***
* *Vegetarian food will be served during the conference.
Non-Vegetarian items may be considered as per the availability and
convenience of the Food and Catering Committee.
*Arriving At Vijayawada*
Vijayawada is well connected by Rail, Road and Air to all
the major cities of the country. Conference venue is located at 5 Kms from
Bus & Railway stations. City bus, Auto Service, Taxi are available.
Participants are requested to book their to and fro Journey
tickets in advance to avoid the complications in the last minute.
