Dear Friends, I am a doctoral researcher at Washington University, St Louis. My area of interest is development economics with emphasis on technoIogy for agriculture. For the purpose of my research, I am looking for district wise agricultural statistics of India 1998 onwards to the latest year available. I checked the Databook on Agricultural Resources at IASRI website which lists data on yields, production and several other information on different variables. The data are mainly time series and in some cases state wise data are also available. I also checked The Statistical Abstracts that are available online at http://mospi.nic.in/cso_rept_pubn.htm are given 2002 onwards and state wise. I am looking for the same data at the district level which I think are published in the annual Statistical Abstracts. Online, I could only find the Season and Crop report for the districts of Tamil Nadu that are listed at http://www.tn.gov.in/crop/ and I need the same data for the all other states from 1998 onwards. Dear List members We are looking for a M.L.I.Sc fresher or someone with M.L.I.Sc and experience of 3-4 years in a library. The candidate we are looking for must have good communication skills in English and one or two Indian languages. The candidate must be able to take active part in the training and support work for our library automation software, NewGenLib. Ideally the candidate should have had exposure to computer-based systems and should be willing to travel. The position is in Hyderabad. Shiyali Ramamrita Ranganathan (1892-1972) was a pioneer in the field of Library and Information Science. S.R. Ranganathan's The Five Laws of Library Science, the main premise of which is "books are for use," is arguably the most influential work in LIS to date.
