Dear Sir (LIS Forum), I am Niranjana Murthy B R, Chief Librarian of Brindavan College of Management, Computer Application and Science. Now I am going to request you to dispatch below information to our entire beloved Professionals and Information officer. This thing has already discussed some experienced and enthusiastic library and information officer on 13th Nov 2005 meeting. I will be highly obliging you if you dispatch this information to all through our LIS-Forum. DEAR PROFESSIONALS, We are glad to inform you that in the view of mobilizing all our library professionals to discuss present professionals problems and chockout the program in connection with the forming of Library and information officer Association. We request you kindly to be present as noted below without failure. Date: 20th November 2005 Time: 10 A.M Venue: The Karnataka State Central Public Library, Cubbon Park, Bangalore-560001 Dear all our beloved Professionals, We are planned to forms One State Level Librarians Association which included all category of Library Professionals. As we know now a day we have been facing several kind of problems, even done our work properly in all the way. Even we have some library association but those are not coming to solve our problems and failure to guide us to how to build up our all activities and Development. We have to find out solution for all our several kind of problems, we should have to discuss in-group means through association (strength). As we know now a day especially in academic field, how they are treating to librarians, what are all their restrictions and pressure on library professionals in academic institution. Why they should treat us like that? Even if we have P.G, M.phil, Ph.D. and other technical qualification. And one more thing is recent recruitment of P U College librarian, which has finished few days earlier. They have allowed only for B.Lib candidates. But if we see the P U College environment, they are recruiting only M.A, M Sc., M Com etc P G Holder for Lecturer Post but why they have to consider B.Lib for Librarian post. They should take the MLISc candidates for P U College Librarian Post and what is the pay scale variation between librarians and Lecturers. Why they are making like that? Shouldnt we have rights to ask to have the equal position and other convents. For what purpose all those things happening like this? Is it democratic country? If its that, they must provide. It should be look to all on equality basis. If we are not asked we shouldnt have anything. We should ask and get. Otherwise we can get by do the terrible strike and struggle. So that dear all professionals please come and join and make the association for that. If sit silently without asking anything we never get anything forever. Not only these problems plenteous are there. Who are enthusiasiastics in our field please come ahead and get the volunteer support from already who have notified more than 200 professionals ready to give the support otherwise let us move ahead with your support. According to 13th November 2005 meeting more than 500 to 600 professionals are coming to attend the forum on November 20th, 2005 in Bangalore as mentioned above schedule. And additional intention of this association is going to start seminar, lecturing, training, personality development, placement for new comers and others of library professional degree holder and other needed activities for all our professionals by excellent coaches. Like this type of several programs are going to start after form the Association. Please dispatch this information to all our friends and professionals as a volunteer organizer of the association. He has the distinction of leading premier Tamil journals as their editor at a very young age. He was a regular broadcaster for the BBC World Service. He earned his Masters degree in journalism at the University of Florida , Gainesville . Mr. Maalan joined the Sun Network in 1999 and launched the 24 hours bi-lingual news channel 'Sun News' in May 2000. Earlier he was the Editor for Kumudham, a popular Tamil Weekly. Prior to that he was the Editor of prestigious Tamil daily 'Dinamani'. He was responsible for launching the Tamil edition of the all India publication India Today (then a fortnightly) and served as its editor. Microsoft has recognized him as a Most Valuable Professional for his contribution towards localization of its software. He is actively involved in various social development initiatives that include empowerment of woman through Panchayati Raj and localization of computer soft wares. Dr. TBR Memorial Seminar Conducted at NCSI

Friends, Dr. T. B Rajashekar Memorial seminar on Information Management in Digital Era was inaugurated on 12 November 2005 by Dr. Shalini Urs, Chairman, Dept of Library and Information Science, University of Mysore at NCSI Seminar Hall. The seminar was conducted under the aegis of Dr. TBR Memorial. Dr. TBR Memorial is an initiative in memory of Dr. T.B.Rajashekar started by NCSI-NET, an association of staff, students and alumni of National Center for Science Information (NCSI), Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. Inaugurating the seminar, Prof. Shalini Urs, shared her memories with Dr. TBR, who was her batch mate during their Bachelors course in Library Science. She said his greatest quality was he knew his strengths and weakness. She fondly recollected her association with Dr. TBR and hoped that his students carry forward his legacy, which will be the greatest tribute one can pay to him. Mr. N.V.Satyanarayana, MD, Informatics India Ltd., Bangalore and Prof. K.S. Raghavan delivered the invited lectures on "What makes Information Professionals Tick Effectively" and "Challenges in LIS Education". Mr. Satyanarayana emphasized the need for students to have the right attitude, which is the biggest attribute after knowledge and information. Information Profession is not limited to the traditional library alone, the stream has grown into many new areas, key among them being Knowledge Process with the influx of BPO industry. Prof. Raghavan highlighted the challenges, which are faced in LIS education. He stressed upon the fact that students have to gear themselves up to meet the industry expectations of being knowledge workers. Delivering the valedictory address, Dr. N.V. Joshi, Chairman, NCSI, said the seminar is an indicator of his popularity as a teacher and mentor. Prof. A G Menon, former Chairman, NCSI participated in the inaugural address. The seminar was attended by 55 Final year students of Master in Library Science, from universities across India. The one-day seminar focused on Digitization and digital Library and Effective Web Searching techniques. The workshop was conducted and coordinated by NCSI-Net and its members. To call him a "management guru", his common appellation, falls far short of describing his wonderful career and the enormous impact he had on global business. The author of some three dozen books, he believed in streamlined management and the empowerment of workers, trends that have been embraced by business large and small around the globe. Anyone who has ever been to a business school or held any kind of reasonably senior management job will know the name Peter Drucker. The Austrian-born journalist and intellectual taught, wrote and advised companies on management techniques for seven decades, completing his 35th book at age 94.
