Dear Colleagues, Eugene Garfield, an innovative scientist and the founding father of Web of Science passed away on February 26, 2017 in Pennsylvania. He founded the Institute of Scientific Information (ISI, Philadelphia) and launched the field of Citation analysis. He was a celebrated author, great human being, and remarkably contributed pioneering works in the field of Scientometrics. We should pay regards to his tireless works and his foundational contributions to the field. It’s a great loss for all of us. A memorial and other means of honoring Garfield’s legacy are forthcoming.
