Thanks to Corporation Bank, this venture is a part of its centenary year celebrations. The foundation stone laying ceremony was held on Tuesday, August 30, here. V K Chopra, bank chairman and managing director, laid the foundation stone. The library to be constructed near Mangala stadium here, will consist of three floors, with books stored on the first floor. It will have separate sections for administration and a multipurpose reading hall. The reading hall, reference and periodicals sections, will be housed on the ground floor. The numismatic and philatelic museum will also be based on the ground floor, while the internet and video conferencing systems will be in the basement. Each floor will have an area of 3700 to 4000 square feet each. The construction will be completed by February 2006, a release from the bank said. Facilities like book lending and retrieval will be computerized. An ATM counter will be a part of the structure too. Audio visual equipments for conducting discussions and exchange of knowledge among similarly facilitated libraries all over the world, will also be available.
