Babu Rajendra Rajendra.Babu at capco.com
Wed Jan 24 11:12:33 IST 2007

Prasanna,

Thanks for the mail. I also several times requested the coordinators to
keep the communication early as much as possible. With the early
notice!, who knows we may pull more people as they have a lot of time to
plan in advance.

Here is a request to the coordinators to please adhere to the early
communication about the future NET meetings.

Regards,
Rajendra Babu.

Dear Coordinators

I have noticed that for the past couple of net meetings, announcement is
being made on the previous day of the meeting.

It is very difficult for most of us to plan at the last moment to attend
the same.

I do not want to miss any of our alumni gatherings most of the time.

Please try to avoid sending last minute invitations by pre-planning the
meetings.

I remember a mail came last week that meeting is getting postponed due
to long weekend/festival.

I believe you could have sent this mail by Wednesday at least....

Thanks

T S Prasanna

Here is a brief minutes of the Net meeting held on 9th December, 2006:

A special lecture by Prof. Achim Osswald, a visiting scientist at the
DRTC, was arranged for this meeting. We are thankful to Prof. Osswald
for accepting the invitation of NCSI-Net and giving us an overview on
the library networks in Germany.

Mr. Francis Jayakanth welcomed the gathering and introduced the speaker.

Prof. Achim Oswald of Institute for Information Science, University of
Applied Sciences,
Cologne.(http://www.fbi.fh-koeln.de/institut/personen/osswald/Osswald_le
b_en.htm) was visitng DRTC for a short duration. His talk titled,
Library Automation in Germany: more a glimpse than a state of the art
review and gave an exposure of the library automation in Germany and
focused on the major players at present: The German National Library and
supporting subject based libraries, the Cooperative Library Networks,
their role in Library Automation and the services they offer.

Dr. S. Venkadesan, Librarian, J.R.D. Tata Mermorial Library, IISc
presented a memento to Prof. Osswald as a token of appreciation of
NCSI-Net members.

We are also glad to inform our Net members about the valuable
contribution of Mr. G. Sudhakar, an IKM trainee of 2004-06 batch, for
Dr. TBR Memorial Seminar. Mr. Sudhakar had donated Rs. 5,000/- for the
Seminar and this is indeed a very magnanimous gesture by him. NCSI-NET
would like to reciprocate this gesture with a warm thank you to Sudhakar
and making him the first life member of the NET. So friends please join
us in applauding Mr. Sudhakar's thoughtful gesture.

Thanks and Regards,

Anitha M.K and Ravi Nandhan V
