Respected Members', In keeping with the increased focus on creating world class infrastructure in higher education, the Planning Commission has outlined a Rs 1,31,022 crore Seven Year Higher Education Plan.For the XIth plan period, the specified plan would be allocated Rs 55,987 crore.This plan will include 16 new Central Universities, 5 Medical & Engineering Colleges, 370 Degree Colleges, 8 new IITs, 7 new IIMs & 20 new NITs.At present in India there are 380 existing universities.
