Respected LIS Professionals, As an alumnus of MyDLIS, University of Mysore, Mysore, I thought of sharing my own case in this regard. Having passed out in 2005, I am currently working in a Pharmaceutical Company in Bangalore as a Knowledge Management - Executive and I am shortly migrating to Deloitte Consulting – Hyderabad as a Record Management (Analyst) – US Operations. Before that I was at i2 Technologies. I am proud to be a student of MyDLIS and state that training and the amount of knowledge I gathered during my MLISc (2003 - 2005), has helped me in finding job opportunities in bigger IT industries like Deloitte and i2 Technologies. During my course I have learnt many aspects of Library and Information Science as far as theory is concerned and practical aspects of DDC, UDC as well as the IT related stuffs like Greenstone, Dspace, LIBSYS, Dublin Core, MARC 21 etc from my beloved faculty members. I would also like to add, more than the knowledge and IT skills per se, it is more important to inculcate the right mindset and attitude. As regards market expectations- from my experience, I would like to add that the market is somewhat nebulous and evolving and therefore LIS professionals need to have a broad range of skills, learning attitude and adaptability.
