Achievments in Education in 60th Year of Independence

Dear Members', Here I am giving some points for ur info. from the advertisement i.e. 60th Year of Independence: Achievments in the field of Education of M/o HRD (Deptt. of School Edu. & Literacy and Deptt. of Higher Edu.) . This advt. was appeared in the Indian Express on 15th August. 1. 50 new Kendriya Vidyalayas & 28 new Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas have been sanctioned in 2006-' 07, in addition to the 919 existing KVs & 539 JNVs. 2. 23 Central Univ. have been established so far including 4 new Central Universities during 2006 through Acts of Parliament.All states in the North East have one Central University each. 3. It is proposed to establish 3 new IITs in the states of Bihar, Rajasthan & Andhra Pradesh. 4. A seventh IIM at Shilong in the North East has been established, and will start the first academic session from 2008-' 09. 5. 2 new School of Planning and Archetecture are also proposed to be set up at Bhopal & Vijayawada (Andhra Pradesh). 6. A new IIIT (Design & Manufacturing) has been established at Kanchipuram (Tamil Nadu). 7. 3 Indian Institutes of Science Education & Research (IISERs) have been set at Kolkata, Mohali & Pune. 2 more IISERs have been proposed at Bhopal & Thiruvananthpuram. 8. 20 RECs / Govt. Engineering Colleges have been converted into National Institutes of Technology (NIT). The National Institutes of Technology Act-2007 comes into force today. 9. "Sakshat", a free one-stop portal for education has been launched by His Excellency, the President of India in October,2006 .
