Dear All I am pleased to inform you that Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi in collaboration with INFLIBNET Centre, Ahmedabad is organising a two days National Seminar on "Managing Electronic Theses and Dissertations" during 22nd March and 23rd March, 2012. This seminar will provide a platform and a unique opportunity to network, share experiences and discuss current good practices from around the region, enabling researchers and practitioners in the area of Electronic Theses and Dissertations. Objectives of the Seminar are:- A primary goal of ETD initiatives is to make the research and scholarship conducted by students readily accessible. The seminar objective is to explore and share the wealth of knowledge, experiences, and resources available on creation and management of ETDs in order to enable each participant to return with an action plan in hand: ⢠To create an awareness about Electronic Theses and Dissertations (ETD) amongst faculty & students in various Universities in India. ⢠Issues related to digitization, digital preservation and access to ETDs. ⢠Online/Digital submission of ETDs ⢠Management of ETDs ⢠IPR, open access and other related issues concerning ETDs. ⢠Develop skills that will facilitate ETDs implementation at your Library. ⢠Creation of interoperable ETD Archives. About JNU As you know JNU was established in 1969. (www.jnu.ac.in) Young at thirty years, as universities go, what has lent strength and energy to Jawaharlal Nehru University is the vision that ideas are a field for adventure, experimentation and unceasing quest and diversity of opinions its chief premise. 1000 -acre campus is housed is now lush green. The JNU campus is a microcosm of the Indian nation, drawing students from every nook and corner of the country and from every group and stratum of society. Even as class room teaching and work in the library and the laboratories have their share in the mode of instruction, personal interaction between students and teachers and among students themselves form an extremely important and lively medium of generation and transmission of knowledge. Several Centres in these Schools have been declared by the UGC to be Centres of 'Excellence'. About INFLIBNET INFLIBNET was established in 1992. Information and Library Network (INFLIBNET) Centre (www.inflibnet.ac.in) is an Autonomous Inter-University Centre (IUC) of University Grants Commission (UGC) involved in creating infrastructure for sharing of library and information resources and services among Academic and Research Institutions. INFLIBNET works collaboratively with Indian university libraries to shape the future of the academic libraries in the evolving information environment. To promote and establish communication facilities to improve capability in information transfer and access that provide support to scholarship learning, research and academic pursuit through cooperation and involvement of agencies concerned. To establish INFLIBNET: Information and Library Network a computer communication network for linking libraries and information centres in universities, deemed to be universities, colleges, UGC information centres, institutions of national importance and R & D institutions, etc. avoiding duplication of efforts Who Should Participate Participation to the Seminar is open to all Library & Information Professionals in India with a special focus on/ to University Libraries in India. However, preference will be given to the Academic Libraries who are engaged in the Digitization and Digital Archiving of Theses and Dissertations. Registration Registration is free and limited up to maximum 200 participants. It will be done on First-come-first basis. Registration will be open till 8th March 2012. Duly filled in registration form can be sent to jnuetd12@gmail.com . There will be no travel / accommodation support available for the participants. Presentations Seminar will have only invited presentations. However, one session will be kept for contributed presentations based on case studies or research works.
