These online courses on NPTEL are useful not only for working professionals for improving their worth by value addition to themselves but also for senior citizens and retired persons. As the Deputy Secretary General of Indian Society of U3As, I run a Google Group and website for retirees who are interested in lifelong learning / continuous learning / adult learning programs. A free, online, self learning, carnatic music appreciation course from NPTEL benefitted many senior citizens. Even now I come across retirees asking for hard core engineering courses (online) to pursue: they say what they learnt half a century ago has become totally irrelevant and inadequate!
