Re: [LIS-Forum] LIS-Forum and Resource sharing
Date: Tue, 10 Feb 2004 7:38:43 -0500 From: Atanu Garai <atanu@takingitglobal.org> I would add that apart from the subject wise union catalogue, which are developed by various agencies and available both in online and offline formats in various scientific and non scientific disciplies,it is really imperative that we should develop a kind of formal mechansim in the field of LIS too,may be promoted by any LIS society or association, governmental and non governmental agencies.Such union catalogue in LIS is the need of hour and may be the starting point for knowledge sharing formally in India. Requests of journal papers through lists or personal channels must have a limited effect on scholarly research and I presume the reason for very limited citations in most of the LIS papers and conference proceedings must be attributed to this lack of access to LIS journals. best Atanu -- Atanu Garai | atanu@takingitglobal.org http://profiles.takingitglobal.org/atanu http://updates.takingitglobal.org/read/atanu http://www.dgroups.org/groups/education
