Dear Majid Rao, I believe in that the UGC has not notified and banned M.Phil courses in the distance education mode. the some was notified by the Tamil Nadu Govt. and copy sent to the UGC the UGC yet to decide on the M.Phil distance education mode. I'm Majid Rao, recently completed my regular Master Degree in Library Science in the current academic year. I'm now searching for some institutes that offer M.Phil Degree in Distance education mode.

Last year UGC had notified that the present academic year will be the last year during which universities will be allowed to offer M.Phil courses in the distance education mode. However, I'm told that some universities in the South have published their advertisement for M.Phil. degree for the year 2008. I would be thankful if somebidy can clarify on this.
