Re: [LIS-Forum] Query on scanning Table of Content and Copyright Laws

Dear parinita,
I think we can put the table of contents in the digital library.
Think! otherwise how the user will come to know about the existing of related material in the library.
One more suggestion is before scanning of books better to check in the websites from where we can get the table of contents easily.
Example www.books.google.co.in
www.ecampus.com

Subject: [LIS-Forum] Query on scanning Table of Content and Copyright Laws To: "lis-forum@ncsi.iisc.ernet.in" , "lis-forum-bounces@ncsi.iisc.ernet.in" Date: Thursday, June 4, 2009, 8:50 AM HI, Is scanning and uploading “table of contents” of books, say in a Digital Library, a copyright violation? Are there institutions in India – which scans the ToCs and make them available to their clientele as part of the library services?
Are there any special permissions which need to be taken for such a service? What have been your experiences?
Request your inputs….
Thanks & Regards,
