Dear Sir, May I request you to kindly publish the below text in LIS-forum. ----- Roja Muthiah Research Library (RMRL) is a research hub with 400000 items as resources for Tamil studies covering diverse fields in the humanities, social sciences and popular culture. It is an archive that preserves 300 years of print culture. RMRL is organizing a four day workshop on paper conservation, which includes theory and hands on practical sessions on topics such as: Disinfecting library material Understanding parts of book Disbinding & cleaning Deacidification Strengthening Sewing & Binding Making book jackets & cases for different needs *The workshop will focus more on practical training.* With support received from Navajbai Ratan Tata Trust, RMRL recently undertook a conservation program, conserving rare print materials in the Library. This program primarily focused on conserving old print material in tropical region using non acidic material and employing reversible conservation techniques. With the experience gained through this project, RMRL intends to share the acquired knowledge with other libraries and archives, which in turn would enable the conservation of rare print material in various parts of India.
