Re: [LIS-Forum] Empowering the Medical Information User
QMed Knowledge Foundation a "not for profit" organization was launched in Mumbai on January 12, 2008. I wanted to share this information with all of you. It is indeed a matter of pride that one of our colleagues from the profession of Library & Information Science, Vasumathi Sriganesh could envisage and execute this. The Qmed Knowledge Foundation vision statement reads - Empower healthcare professionals to utilize reliable and relevant medical information through effective use of Information Technology for delivering quality healthcare services to all. It has relevance & resonance for the health practitioner as well as the consumer. Also the information professional - on possibilities of walking the not so beaten track! Information service entrepreneurship such as Informatics(veteran), QMed et al should hopefully play a part in encouraging youngsters to look at LIS as a first choice in career planning.
