Dear All The Central Library, IIT Bombay has planned to organize a 5-days Training Workshop on ICT for Information Management in S&T Institutions on 16-20 May 2005. The main objective of the workshop is to expose participants to the state-of-the art in library systems and services and how ICT can transform it into a more efficient, knowledge sharing organization facing new challenges and fulfilling aspirations of its users. The important topics to be covered in the workshop include : · Overview of information communication technology applications in the libraries, · Web designing, development of library website · Web-based information sources and services, subject portals · Digital / electronic sources, e-journals, e-books, e-databases, leveraging INDEST consortium for augmenting more e-resources · Development of digital library, hybrid library · Open archives, GSDL, eprints, Dspace, · RFID Only 30-35 participants, on first-come-first-served basis, will be taken for the course from IITs, IISc, NITs, other engineering colleges, scientific and technical institutions. Preference will be given to those from INDEST participating institutions. Participants will be provided hostel accommodation free of charge. TA/DA will have to be borne by the participants or their sponsoring organizations.
