Invitation to the launch of the Pushpa Mittra Bhargava Archive at the Gulbanoo Premji Library- Sept 19, 2023
Dear All, Greetings from Azim Premji University. We are pleased to invite you to join us for the launch event of the Pushpa Mittra Bhargava Archive at the Gulbanoo Premji Library, Azim Premji University, Bengaluru, on September 19, 2023. Dr. Pushpa Mittra Bhargava (1928–2017) was an Indian scientist, writer, and administrator. He founded the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB) in Hyderabad. He was the recipient of several awards, including the Padma Bhushan, for his distinguished service. The launch will include the exhibition of postal stamps, matchboxes, paintings, artifacts, and a selection of Bhargava's papers, which largely cover an exhibition he organized in the 1970s called 'Method of Science'. The launch event will include a panel discussion on the MOS exhibition. The panellists will include Chandana Chakrabarti, scientist, writer, and Joint Secretary of the Pushpa Mittra Bhargava Foundation; Gauhar Raza, former Professor at the Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research and Chief Scientist at the National Institute of Science Communication and Information Resources; Gita Chadha, a sociologist working on critical science studies; and Obaid Siddiqui Chair 2023-2024 at the National Centre for Biological Sciences. The discussion will be moderated by Yogesh Shouche, Gut Microbiome Division, SKAN Research Trust. The digital archive for PMB archives is built on AtoM, an open-source software designed for archives, and the same will be unveiled on September 19.
