Friends, Congratulations to CUSAT and INFLIBNET for organizing an awareness programme on ORCID. [Several years ago we wrote a paper on the need for all researchers adopting ORCID. If I may suggest, in future workshops, the organizers may include other unique identifiers needed in the practice of science and scholarship. ORCID is roughly the equivalent of India's Aadhaar card - it is unique to an individual researcher/author. We need such unique identities for research performing institutions (the places with which the authors are associated, e.g. IISc, NPL, IVRI; we now have the Research Organization Registry or ROR), individual documents or woks (we now have DOI), venues (such as journals for which we have ISSN). Academicians, Faculty, Library and Information Science Professional, Information Scientist, and PhD/Research Scholars from all disciplines. A maximum of 100-120 candidates will be selected for the outreach programme on First-Come-First- Serve Basis.
