The target audience includes the librarians, information professionals and others interested in building document repositories. WORKSHOP CONTENT The Workshop is designed to facilitate the participation in creating state-of-the-art Institutional Repositories using GSDL and DSpace in the Windows platform. It includes software installation, configuration, customiza-tion and other related workflow operations, content development and management, designing and creating standard metadata sets to describe digital-objects and encoding it in standard markup formats. The four-day workshop shall cover Open Access Concepts, Institutional Repositories, GSDL, DSpace, and metadata standards. THE PRIME FOCUS AREAS ARE: * Institutional Repositories: Open Access, Archives, OAI, OAI-PMH working principles * GSDL: Overview, Installation, Operations * DSpace: Overview, Installation, Operations * Metadata Standards: Concepts, Dublin Core, METS and MODS * Hands on Sessions WORKSHOP - EXPECTED RESULTS At the end of the workshop, each of the participants is expected to be well-versed in the installation of the software packages to set up and develop institutional repositories.
