Dear Members, I am writing to let you know about a recent incident on our discussion list. It has come to our attention that a message containing threatening and inappropriate content was posted by an individual as lis-forum-owner@ncsi.iisc.ernet.in. The message claimed to have access to sensitive information and made fraudulent demands. As you know, LIS-Forum was moved to a hosting platform called MailmanLists about a month ago. After contacting the MailmanLists support team about the spam email, they informed us that the issue was linked to a problem with the server's DNS, which allowed this spam email to bypass our moderation process. The IISc network team manages the LIS-Forum server's DNS records. We recommend that all members remain vigilant and avoid engaging with any suspicious emails or links.
