Responses received and Appreciation
Sorry in case I am reposting, but it didn't appeared ont he forum... Dear LIS Members, In response to my posting with subject "Valuating Information Intangibles/ Saluting Dr. Pujar's initiatives", I have received couple of good responses. It is my privilege to post it again on the LIS forum. Even our reputed local daily 'Sakal' has appreciated Dr. Pujar's efforts (please visit URL: http://www.esakal.com/esakal/01042008/Kolhapur0E82208C34.htm ). In the context of responses received, I wish to reproduce a quote of Stephen Abram, vice-president of Micromedia Ltd., Canada's largest electronic publisher. "But although technology is vastly changing their roles, librarians are still seen as "trusted agents" and their role as navigators of the Internet will be critical to everyday life and the future economy." I am once again proud to reiterate the efforts of Dr. Pujar in modernizing Shivaji University Library. It is unfortunate for us that he is leaving Shivaji University and rejoining IGIDR, Mumbai. But as said by John Quincy Adams "To furnish the means of acquiring knowledge is the greatest benefit that can be conferred upon mankind. It prolongs life itself and enlarges the sphere of existence.", Dr. Pujar will be always a source of inspiration for all of us at Kolhapur. Regards. Dr. R.K. Kamat --------------------------------------------------------------------- Dear Dr Kamat, Thanks a bunch for the mail. First you have suggested a good book, which I did not read so far. Second for recognizing and recording the library work. The librarians' work is always unnoticed, but you have noticed it and documented well. Third for your appreciations to Mr Pujar and his team. This is what the proffesional needs and expects - a pat from management and users. Thanks for the kind gesture. Kudos to your magnanimity.
