India *ABOUT THE IATLIS* Indian Association of Teachers of Library and Information Science (IATLIS) is a professional association of more than 600 teachers and professionals in Library and Information Science in India. Since its inception in 1969, IATLIS has been active in taking up several issues of LIS Education in India especially relating to the development of curriculum, teaching methods, infrastructure, teacher training, etc. It actively works for the promotion of the professional interests of LIS teachers. As part of its activities, it conducts national seminars, workshops, and training programmes. It publishes conference proceedings and also an electronic journal “IATLIS Journal of Library Education and Research”. For more details about the association, kindly access www.iatlis.org *ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY * The Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Lucknow is one of the premier central universities in India. The jurisdiction of this residential University is over the entire state of Uttar Pradesh. This University is located at the Rai-Bareli road about 10 Kms south of Charbagh Railway Station, Lucknow. The main objective of the University is to promote advancement of knowledge by providing instruction and research facilities in key areas of science, technology and other allied disciplines. At present, there are 10 functioning schools namely: School for Information Science and Technology, Bioscience and Biotechnology, Legal Studies, Ambedkar Studies, Environmental Sciences, Home Science, Physical Science, Management Studies etc. comprising of 22 Departments i.e., Department of Library & Information Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, Mass Communication and Journalism, Applied Animal Science, Applied Plant Science, Biotechnology, Law, Human Rights, History, Economics, Sociology, Political Science, Environmental Science, Home Science, etc. All courses offered by the university are Post Graduate, innovative, and non traditional. *ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT* The Department of Library and Information Science is functioning in the university since 1997 with the aim to provide up-to-date LIS education to students through effective teaching programmes and practical training. The department is working with the vision to educate individuals for career as librarians, documentalists, information professionals, archivists, information scientists and knowledge managers. The students are educated and trained in the emerging information and communication technology developments as required by the existing and emerging market requirements. Presently the department is offering two-year integrated Master of Library and Information Science (MLISc), and Ph. D. programme in Library and Information Science. Keeping in view the market demands and employment opportunities for the students, the courses are being designed and restructured at regular intervals. The department has so far produced more than 300 library and information professionals. *ABOUT THE CONFERENCE * The theme of the IATLIS National Conference 2016 is: *LIS Research: Issues and Challenges.* *SUB-THEMES OF THE CONFERENCE* Sub-themes include, but are not limited to: - Library and Information Science Research – Lingering and Contemporary Issues - Qualitative and Quantitative Methods of Research - LIS Research Literature - Partnerships and Collaborations in LIS research - Trends in leading edge of LIS Research - Data Forgery, Plagiarism and Research Ethics - Impact of LIS Research/Agenda for LIS Research - Media and Information Literacy *CALL FOR PAPERS* The organizing committee invites articles and scholarly papers on the theme of the conference. Papers will be reviewed to check quality and relevance to the main topic of the conference. The papers should include abstract, introduction, objectives, methodology, findings and references. Full Paper (not more than 2000 words) carrying an abstract, keywords, title, name(s), affiliation(s), email address(es), and references should be submitted latest by 10 December 2016 to the General Secretary, IATLIS, C/o, Department of Library and Information Science, Punjabi University, Patiala 147002 (Punjab), preferably by email at iatlis2016@yahoo.com *Paper Submission Guidelines * Authors are required to follow the guidelines given below: · Name of the author(s), postal address, email address, phone numbers should clearly be mentioned on a separate sheet along with the paper. · Paper should be typed in English on A-4 size paper using single space with one inch margin on each side. The text should be typed in 12pt size using Times New Roman Font, and single-spaced. · Text should be justified on both ends and start with a title followed by Author(s), abstract, keywords, main text, references and appendices. · For references, kindly follow APA Style. · At least one of the authors must pre-register for the conference. *REGISTRATION DETAILS* *Indian Delegates:* Sponsored Rs. 3,000/- Non-Sponsored Rs. 2,000/- Retired Professionals Rs. 1,500/- Accompanying Person Rs. 1,500/- Students Rs. 750/- *Foreign Delegates:* SAARC Countries $ 100 Other Countries $ 200 The registration fee covers conference kit, proceedings of the conference (upon post-publication), and working lunch, and session tea for the conference days. The registration fee does not include breakfast, dinner and accommodation. Papers presented at the conference will be published in the post-conference volume that would be sent to the registered delegates later on, as per the decision of the General Body. Delegates are requested to include registration fees for accompanying persons while forwarding their registration forms since it would not be possible to entertain last minute requests for accommodation. Accompanying persons shall not be entitled for conference kits. Delegates are requested to intimate their travel plans in advance to avoid last minute inconvenience. The Demand Draft for registration fee should be in favour of IATLIS payable at Patiala, and should be sent along with the duly filled in Registration Form latest by 10 December 2016.
