Dear Professionals, I feel very much pained to convey the bad news that Prof. K.S.Deshpande, the most valued professional of our country  is no more. I am given this news a couple of minutes ago and with immense grief I am sending the mail for the professional forum. Prof. Deshpande retired as University Librarian and also one of the most valued teacher of Karnatak University, Dharwad. The library science course at KUD was started with his initiative, along with his colleague Prof. M.R.Kumbhar and the Department has been one of the most adorable Alumni for thousands of LIS professionals spread around the world.  I feel highly fortunate being his one of the beloved student of the department. Prof. Deshpande known for his eloquent oratory and scholarly knowledge of Library management. Due to his excellent organisational acumen he served also at University of Mysore, Bangalore University, Gulbarga University and University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad as University Librarian. He was also instrumental in starting the Department of Library Science at University of Mysore. He was a State Awardee and also the Karnatak University honoured him with Honorary  Doctorate Degree It is impossible to record all his professional and other societal activities here. I am deeply pained at the news, but for the wish of the Almighty and who can give his family a strength bear this great loss. He was in his late nineties.(95) Pray his soul rest in peace Prof. A.Y.Asundi
