I am glad to note that you propose to register for Ph.D and research on the
theme: Information Seeking Behaviour of Faculty Members of Degree Colleges
in Karnataka, with special reference to Bangalore Division.". Please accept
my best wishes for success in your endeavour.
However, based on my llong experience as a senior library professional, it
is my considered view that you should rather choose to work on :
"Information seeking behaviour of faculty members in universities, higher
educational institutions and R&D Centres in Bangalore", because faculty
members in degree colleges in our country have not yet reached the stage in
which they tend to seek information from sources other than those that are
available in their own libraries. Mostly, they use only text books and
reference materials and it is only rarely that they go outside of their
libraries in seeking information from specialized sources, such as,
conference papers, journal articles from reputed national and international
journals, technical reports and other unpublished information. You may also
know from your own experience that very few faculty members in our degree
colleges publish research papers in journals or present papers in
conferences etc.
