Dear All Marketing Excellence Awards 2017 Winners Announced CILIP’s Publicity and Public Relations Group (PPRG) is delighted to announce the winners of its 2017 Marketing Excellence Awards. The Awards recognise and celebrate successful library marketing and promotional campaigns across the country. You will be able to hear more about the campaigns at the PPRG Conference (details will be announced shortly) Davina Omar, Chair of the PPRG said: “It is an honour to be on the panel to judge the PPRG Marketing Excellence awards and see the quality of work that is taking place across the country. This year's entries were all of a high quality and we can be rightfully proud of the profession's dedication, talent, enthusiasm and commitment to high quality marketing. This year's award winners used good practice marketing techniques and tools to connect with their members and non-members and help demonstrate the value that libraries make to people’s lives. My congratulations go out to all our worthy winners and we look forward to sharing their success with you all at our PPRG Conference." Silver Award Winner: Hampshire County Council Library ServicePromoting EMagazines The marketing team designed a promotional campaign to inform three target audiences within Hampshire about free eMagazine downloads from Hampshire Library Service. The objective was to re-position the library service in the eyes of non-users and increase not only e-magazine downloads but also membership and usage of the library. Bronze Award Winner: Libraries NITwo Cities One Book - Belfast Dublin During April 2016, with a modest budget, Libraries NI launched a ‘Two Cities One Book’ initiative by partnering with Dublin City Libraries, in association with Penguin Random House book publisher, to encourage people in Belfast and Dublin to read and discuss ‘Fallen’ by author Lia Mills. Bronze Award Winner: Shropshire LibrariesPicture This A creative innovative arts programme in libraries across Shropshire for young people aged 11-14yrs. In the 2 day workshops in the 6 main libraries, 60 young people developed original pieces of performance and set design. Performances in each library and a touring exhibition showcased what had been achieved. Bronze Award Winner: Staffordshire Library and Arts ServiceJ.R.R. Tolkien in Staffordshire – Touring Exhibition This project created a touring exhibition celebrating the importance of Staffordshire in the early life of J.R.R.Tolkien, in particular the influence of his time in the County on his early writings and development of Middle-earth. This involved developing a HLF bid, touring and promotional plan and working with a voluntary organisation Bronze Award Winner: University of York LibraryUoYTips: Marketing the library to new users The UoYTips project was based on running the annual library induction for new students as a marketing campaign, rather than merely an orientation exercise. The results were a huge increase in engagement from new library users, and increased credibility and respect for the library from academic Departments.
