In the technological era these information are available through different web-based information systems devoted to biological knowledge. Biological information systems simplify the hazardous task of accessing and retrieving species specific information. The Biological information systems serves various types of data regarding a certain species, ranging from ecological distribution, taxonomy and molecular biology to literature, multimedia etc. For handling different types of datasets these systems rely on some tools. This seminar will give a peripheral view on the evolution and need of biological information and also going to emphasize on different web based biological information systems including, GBIF, EOL, BHL, NCBI and IBIS. The talk will also focus on the beneficial aspect of the libraries from these biological information systems.
