Dear Members, We are running GSDL 2.83 server on Windows and like to know, whether GSDL has the provision to run or play steaming videos or is there any inbuilt programmes (Configuration) through which it can convert normal videos in to streaming mode. Dear Dr. Pujar, As far as my knowledge goes, GSDL doesn't provide videos streaming. GSDL will indeed play most of the popular video formats. For a Digtial Library of Videos and for streaming video services at IIMK, we have developed a GSDL Bibliography collection, by configuring an external Video Streaming Server (http://iimk.ac.in/gsdl/cgi-bin/library). Looking at this, Sh. Sharad Jhadav of NIA, Pune has prepared a documentation on this and it is available at in the Greenstone Support for South Asia site at http://greenstonesupport.iimk.ac.in/Documents/Doc_Video_Library.pdf You may like to use Unreal Media Server and Player for this. You can as well use any other Server/Player of your choice, as this is out of GSDL configuration. Obviously, you will be using two servers - one for GDSL and the other as Media Server.
