Dear Prof. Balakrishnan/ Prof. Menon/ Francis:
Kindly accept my heart felt condolences. Please convey the same to Mrs
Rajashekar and other members of his family. Raja was one of the best
information professionals of our country and had earned a reputation around
the world. He played an important role in training young professionals in
modern information dissemination tchniques and in promoting the open access
culture in India. His passing away is a great loss to the profession. RIP.

We are very sad to inform you that Dr. T B Rajashekar, Associate Chairman
of NCSI expired on 3-6-05 in an accident. His body will be brought to his
residence at 10.15 A M today(4-6-05). The funeral is expected to take
place by 3 PM today.

Yes Stevan, it is the same Raja. Melissa of OSI and UNESCO had recognised
his worth and invited him to some conferences and workshops. I always
thought he was very good in his work. In fact, I had to face some harsh
comments from other Indian colleagues when I mentioned in a discussion list
that NCSI was a good training centre for young Indian librarians. He is no
more. Why should such an accomplished expert die when he has so much more to
give to the rest of us, I do not understand. Nature's ways are inscrutable.
