Prof. Harsha Parekh, who retired as Librarian of the SNDT Women's
University Library and Head of the SHPT School of Library Science is the
Hon. Director of the NID Cell, and Dr. Perin Marolia is the Co-ordinator.
The NID Cell carries out its objective of disseminating information to the
members of the UGC Programme, through its website. It also maintains a
library of print and digital materials. An e-group of members is planned,
as well as various information dissemination activities.
The NID Cell wishes to recruit TWO professional staff in the grade of
Lecturer. The details are as follows:
*Two posts in the scale of Lecturer =96 1 Open and 1 reserved for SC*
*Qualifications : *
1. Good academic record with at least 55% of marks or equivalent grade
at Master=92s Degree Level in Library and Information science/Women=92s
Studies/Information technology/Computer Applications or in Social Sciences
/Humanities with a Women=92s Studies component.
2. National Eligibility Test (NET) or SET as per rules
3. Good knowledge of Information Technology.
*Job description:*
The team at the NID Cell is responsible for :
- Identifying, acquiring and managing literature and data (print and
electronic) on relevant issues
- Creating and maintaining contents for a web site (including databases,
digital library, discussion groups, a calendar of events etc.)
- Innovative dissemination service to a widely distributed target group
- Networking and coordination with regional and sub-regional coordinators
- Networking with international agencies
*The work of the Lecturers will be:*
To search out and prepare data for the website of the project, to identify
and acquire resources (print and digital) for the NID Cell, and to carry out
other information-related and administrative work as assigned by the
Co-ordinator of the NID Cell. The job does not involve any teaching.
Kindly note that the positions are temporary and contractual, initially for
a period of 1 year, and if found suitable, will be extended till March 31,
2012. Further, they are non-vacational but have the benefit of Privilege
Leave (20 days), Sick Leave (10 days) and Casual Leave (8 days) each year,
with no privileges of encashment or accumulation of leave.
*Remuneration:* Rs. 26,000 (consolidated), likely to be revised. The
remuneration is on an ad-hoc basis with an annual increment.
The University does not have any accommodation facilities for ad-hoc staff.
