Prof.A.Amudhavalli Honoured by LIS Professionals on the eve of Superannuation
Dear LIS Professionals, The DLIS of the University of Madras has organised a Get together on the eve of superannuation of Prof.A.Amudhavalli, HoD, DLIS, UNOM today at 3.00 p.m. Almost all leading LIS professionals of Chennai City and other parts of Tamil Nadu have participated in the meeting. A video about Prof.Amudhavalli was screened. Prof.S.Parthasarathy (Centenarian), Dr.M.Jagadish (USIS), University Librarians Dr.Samyuktha Ravi, Dr.G.Krishnamoorthy, Dr.G.Rathinasabapathy and Dr.Newton, Dr.R.Rathinasabapathy were among those who spoke about Prof.Amudhavalli's contribution to education, research and overall professional development. Many authorities of the University of Madras including its Controller of Examinations, Director, ICOM and senior professors shared their experience with Prof.Amudhavalli. Madam was honoured by the participants with shawls, sandal gardens, bouquet, mementos including a 'Standing Ovation' to honour her enormous contributions towards the development of LIS education. Prof.A.Amudhavalli while thanked the participants remembered her father, his mentors including Dr.Rao, Dr.K.S.Raghavan and all his colleagues. She thanked all his fellow colleagues including faculty and non-teaching staff of the DLIS and conveyed her wishes to the research scholars and students. Dr.Chandrakumar who is the successor of Prof.A.Amudhavalli has organised the get-together which was supported by his colleagues Dr.Fazlunniza and Mr.Perumal Assistant Professors of DLIS. They deserve appreciations for the well organised program to honour the retiring Teacher who put her mark at International map of LIS education.
