We are happy to inform you that the Association Media Libraries and Archives (AMLA) www.amla.org.in , in collaboration with the Central Library, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) , New Delhi and UNESCO is organizing its 1 st National Conference AMLANC-2013, on the theme, “Managing Indian Media Libraries and Archives: Challenges, Opportunities and Best Practices ” during February 4-5, 2013 , at the Jawaharlal Nehru University Convention Centre, New Delhi . The conference will be followed by Training Workshop on Capacity Building on ‘ Digitization, and Digital Archiving in Media Libraries and Archives’ on 6 th February 2013 . The workshop will be conducted by experts from the field. There is no separate fee for workshop. All participants of the conference may attend. Only the outside participants need to pay for one day extra accommodation only. The topics covered under the workshop will be as follows: i. Microfilm : A Media for long term preservation ii. From Digital to Microfilming iii. Digitization iv. Digital Preservation v. Digital Archiving vi. Training on Greenstone may be included. The Conference primarily aims to provide a professional platform for the Library and Information Services (LIS) professional working in the media libraries, archives and information centres to deliberate, discuss, and share the various practical issues in managing all aspects of Media Libraries and Archives, covering the entire gamut of mass media segments, such as Print, TV, Radio and Online. The conference is expected to be attended by over 200 delegates from all parts of India. You are cordially invited to present a paper and also to attend the conference. The few participants from other libraries such as university libraries etc. engaged in newspaper based services in the library may be enrolled. The last date for registration has been extended up to January 31, 2013 . However accommodation will be provided on first-cum firs served basis as we have limited accommodation only.
