CONFERENCE OBJECTIVES Due to digitization radical changes are taking place in information dissemination. Existing libraries and information centers have to gear up rapidly to exploit fully the potential and capabilities of the new technologies. The conference aims at providing a forum for learning and exchange of ideas among those who are actively involved in this area. Main Theme: Initiatives in Libraries and Information Centers in Digital Era Librarians in digital era need to build up infrastructure and soft facilities to meet organization of Collections and services, ICT applications, knowledge management, web based application as well as enhance core competencies to meet the challenges and threats in digital era. Articles/papers are invited for presentation in the following areas in conformance with the main theme. Original case studies and reports on good practices will be appreciated A. Strategies: Formulation of strategies, factors of planning, collections development & management, types and agents of capacity building, key capacities, capacity gaps, need assessment, impact on organizational development, evaluation and monitoring of library effectiveness. B. ICT: Implementation of ICT in LIS activities and services/RFID/Smart card; digital initiatives, institutional repositories, open source initiatives; content development, media resources; web based user education and services; case studies; evaluation and monitoring C. Resources: Web based resources â free or fee based; manpower planning, infrastructure development, fund raising, projects management D. Outreach Programs, Marketing of LIS products and services; public relations, information literacy collaboration, alliances, effective partnership; resource sharing/consortia, services to industries E. Professional Development: Skills building, technical communication, IT, managerial and soft skills; staff development; leadership, training opportunities; role of professional associations & institutions. Case Studies and Best Practices: on Conference main theme or any sub theme given in the brochure INVITED PAPERS Experts from various parts of the country have been invited to present their experience through invited keynote papers in each session, which will also be included in the conference proceedings PAPER SUBMISSION Authors are requested to submit two copies of full paper double space on A4 size paper in camera-ready form and also a softcopy on CD in MS-Word along with the Registration fee. Charts, graphs, photographs, if any, should be inserted at the proper place in the paper. The full paper should not exceed 10 pages of A4 size paper. Papers without registration fee will be rejected. A declaration by the author(s) should be given separately stating that the paper has not been presented/published elsewhere. Papers accepted for publication will be intimated to the first author. The decision of the Editorial Committee regarding the acceptance of the papers for presentation will be final.
